Built in 1745, The Old Grist Mill Tavern is a renowned pre-revolutionary site in New England that provided nearby colonial farmers a place to grind the grain they produced. Eventually-the exact year is unknown-The Old Grist Mill Tavern in Massachusetts became a restaurant, featuring everything from steaks to seafood.

There was no shortage of restaurants when Not Your Average Joe’s first opened in 1994. There was, however, a shortage of great restaurants with reasonable prices in the suburbs. Tired of driving too far and paying too much, Steve Silverstein decided to build the restaurant he was longing for.
