Opening night of a summer long series of events called Summer Winds. Inspired by the graceful, synchronous motion of schools of fish, Patrick Shearn’s signature Skynets are a constant reminder of nature moving around us. The forthcoming installation for DATMA’s Summer Winds exhibit will dramatically reveal the coastal wind currents moving throughout New Bedford, that are hardly visible otherwise. The artist will pursue a site-specific design for Custom House Square in order to maximize both the drama and intimacy of the artwork

Cuban born Jose Mateo explores the ways dance artists are creating deliberate social change. Rotch-Jones-Duff House & Garden Museum

Built by shipwrights in 1834 for whaling merchant William Rotch Jr., the Rotch-Jones-Duff (RJD) House and Garden Museum epitomizes the “brave houses and flowery gardens” described by Herman Melville in Moby-Dick.
