Whether you like carving Jack O’Lanterns or just enjoy seeing them during the Halloween season, Fall River Historical Society has a great event coming up for you: Jack O’Lantern Jamboree, a pumpkin carving contest and display.
The competition is open to the public and three gift certificates to the FRHS Museum Shop and Boutique --$100 for first place, $75 for second place, and $50 for third place -- will be awarded. The Jack O’Lanterns submitted to the contest will be on display on the grounds of Fall River Historical Society from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2014. There is no charge for admission, and all are welcome to attend.
There is a $5.00 fee for each entry, and payment can be made by cash, check, Visa, Master Card, or American Express. Please register for the contest by October 20, 2014, by calling 508-679-1071, ext. 1. Only entries that are registered will be accepted.
Pumpkins MUST be carved to be accepted. Paint or decorations may be used along with, but not in place of, carving. Pumpkins must include a form of illumination, to be provided by the carver. Battery-operated, LED, or snap lights only. No candles allowed. The FRHS reserves the right to refuse any entry deemed inappropriate.
Please attach your name and phone number securely to the back of your pumpkin and drop it off at Fall River Historical Society on October 21 between 9:00 and 4:00 or before noon on October 22. Judging will take place on October 22, 2014. Entries will be judged on overall appearance and creativity. Winners will be notified by phone.
Jack O’Lanterns will be displayed on the evening of October 22nd only. Pumpkins must be picked up by 4:00 p.m. on October 23. The FRHS will not be responsible for pumpkins that are not picked up.
