Feastin' for the Weekend

It’s known as the “biggest night-out” of the year; partly in that the entire nation is given the next day off to recoup over a 20-lb turkey and a round-table of extended family you’re “thankful” for only sharing thanks with once a year. That’s right, I’m talking Thanksgiving Eve and all of the bar crawling, turkey stuffing and Black Friday shopping in between. Every year we endure the same old traditions brought on by American history textbooks and national retail endorsements, but this year, this year we’re breaking the trend.

Here’s a guide to some alternative holiday weekend plans to consider if visiting Southeastern MA:

Fall River - 5th Annual Thanksgiving Eve Bash - Trio Restaurant presents an evening of dance and drink at the Cultural Center, in the heart of Fall River’s Historic Downtown District, at 205 South Main St., Fall River, MA. Once a religious center, the Cultural Center is now the premiere function hall in Fall River. Musical guests holding down the sets for this event include DJ Bobby Morning and DJ B Real. Dress to impress; doors open at 9p. Tickets sold at the door. This is a 21+ event.

Raynham – The Great American Pub Reunion - What’s a great American story of thanks without a great American pub! Get to 1736 Broadway, Rte. 138 in Raynham, MA to gather with old friends and former classmates for a Thanksgiving reunion like no other at the Great American Pub’s newly renovated lounge. And if the turkey didn’t stuff ya, make sure to head to the Great American Pub on Thursday, Nov 27 at 7p for pizza and appetizers.
