Save the date for our 167th Annual Meeting Join us for an evening celebrating another year’s worth of accomplishments at the Old Colony History Museum! 6-6:30 p.m. Business Meeting 6:30 p.m. Refreshments 6:45-8:00 p.m. Presentation- mini documentary and Q&A with Daniel Morast on the underwater exploration of the historic shipwrecks of Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary. As Sanctuary Ambassador, Mr. Morast will take us on a deep dive into local maritime history and uncover some interesting links to Taunton!

M is for Museum is a new initiative to encourage early literacy in our future historians by providing a sensory-friendly space to hear a story at the Old Colony History Museum. Books will be middle-elementary level and we’ll have stations for coloring and Legos and fidget boxes available. Families of all ages are welcome! Drop in on one, a few, or all our story times!

Earth Day Clean Up Meet us at the museum where you’ll receive trash bags and gloves before we head out to clean up a local cemetery. Help preserve history and make our piece of the Earth a little cleaner!

OCHM After Hours: Screening of Stephano: The True Story of Shakespeare's Shipwreck with Hit and Run History Join us for a screening and Q&A with the filmmaker! The one-hour film Stephano: The True Story of Shakespeare's Shipwreck follows the story of the only Mayflower passenger who had been to North America previously. A decade earlier, Stephen Hopkins had been aboard a Jamestown-bound ship that wrecked on Bermuda, inspiring Shakespeare's final play, The Tempest. Shot on location, the intrepid Hit and Run History crew retraces Hopkins’ life crisscrossing the Atlantic. Two-time Emmy-nominated producer and host Andrew Giles Buckley, a Hopkins descendant, grew up hearing stories that New Plymouth’s iconoclast tavern keeper may have the model of The Tempest’s drunken and mutinous Stephano. In their Gumshoe Historian style, Buckley and crew of Hit and Run History seek out the reality of a man who was everywhere at the founding of America.
