DATMA presents with the New Bedford Whaling museum a year-long dramatic exhibition of Dutch whaling ships will kick off in time for Summer Winds. This exhibit will feature programming all summer, so be sure to look closely at their event schedule.

Some Things We Do Together

DATMA's Summer Winds presents with NBAM/ ArtWorks! Megan and Murray McMillans’ latest project involving off-site wind-powered birdhouse sculptures designed as theatrical sets ready to document the improvisational performance of curious birds. Each sculptural set will feature motion-triggered cameras ready to capture the interactions with birds. These new videos will debut at NBAM/ArtWorks! in July in a solo exhibition of the McMillans’ collective performative video and installation works.

Outdoor mural on the Superflat wall at the Corner of Williams Street and Acushnet Ave. Artist TBD- Open call for graffiti artists goes live late-spring via Superflat networks. Superflat presents “Winds of Change” mural. It will be revealed mid-August when the planets align once again at the 3rdeye Open summer bash for teenaged youth.

Seaport Art Walk

DATMA with Summer Winds' partner, the Seaport Cultural District Artwalk, presents a special program for art for students enrolled in either BCC or UMass Dartmouth. The call is seeking sculpture and mural work inspired by wind. Up to 6 winners will receive a cash prize generously provided by City of New Bedford thanks to the Wicked Cool Places grant. Guests jurors to be determined.
