"The Port of New Bedford was named one of the top 50 North American ports by readers of Yachting Magazine. Recreational boaters and land-based visitors alike will find a warm welcome at our authentic New England Seaport that mixes work and play brilliantly. Fort the past dozen years, our Port has been the number one fishing port in USA based on the dollar value of our yearly catch. Close to 500 fishing boats call New Bedford their home port. You are welcome to walk along the docks but please respect those working at making a living off the sea.
Recreational boaters will find a well-protected, deep-water harbor on Buzzards Bay . We have moorings and slips at Pope's Island Marina as well as launch service to downtown, which also has a dinghy dock. Our historic downtown is just across the street from our waterfront. There is so much to see and do within walking distance! You'll find our cobblestone streets are full of galleries, restaurants, shops, museums and entertainment. We even have an Urban National Park - the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park as well as the world's largest whaling museum.
Our Port also has a fast-ferry to Martha's Vineyard and ferry service to Cuttyhunk.
