Buttonwood Park Zoo

For a 120 years, we have been proud to be part of the New Bedford community as the 12th oldest zoo in the United States. Our mission is to create experiences for exploring and enjoying the natural world. We hope to offer families an opportunity to learn the importance animals play in our world. Our KEEPER CHAT SCHEDULE offers visitors the chance to learn how our zoo keepers care for our animals For many of our animals, the Zoo offers them a home because of injuries that occurred in the wild.

Our zoo will offer you a chance to explore more than 50 species of animals that call this place home. As an AZA accredited zoo, we strive to provide our animals, guests and staff the best experience possible. Through our CONSERVATION efforts and awareness programs, we try to lead our community by example.

You can become a ZOO MEMBER and experience all our zoo has to offer year round. Visit our CALENDAR PAGE, follow us on Twitter, and like us on Facebook to stay up-to-date with the latest zoo news.
